Job Description

As a VAT Adviser and part of the tax team, you will lead tax projects, provide tax advice and submit compliance assignments to ensure the successful completion of tax advice for relevant clients.

What does this role involve? Your day-to-day responsibilities will include delivering all elements of a VAT project, VAT advice, or VAT compliance with supervision by your manager or director. You will develop working relationships with clients and assist with all aspects of the company’s relationships with them to maximise yield and performance, alongside identifying areas of risk and viable opportunities for both current and potential clients.

Where appropriate to do so you will initiate and take an active role in business development by promoting our full range of services to clients.

You will also be involved in training assistant team members, including regularly reviewing their work to ensure that client requirements are actioned.

Delivering all elements of a VAT project, VAT advice or VAT compliance with supervision (review) by your manager or director Training assistant team members, including regularly reviewing their work to ensure that client requirements are actioned Managing your workflow and client expectations, using your specialist knowledge and skills to add value to the bookkeeping hub Developing working relationships with clients and assisting in all aspects of the company’s relationships with them to maximise yield and performance Identifying areas of risk and viable opportunities for both current clients and potential clients Where appropriate, initiating and taking an active role in business development by promoting our full range of services to clients (cross-selling) Skills and experience We think you’ll need the following experience and qualifications to succeed in the role:

Fully qualified (either by relevant qualification or experience) VAT advisory skills and experience, including cross-border knowledge The ability to work as part of a wider team The ability to create accurate work under tight deadlines and with quick turnaround times Developed professional and technical knowledge Robust communication and interpersonal skills Good IT skills Key interfaces You will engage with VAT team members of all levels. Externally, you will liaise with client finance teams at all levels, including director level, stakeholders (banks, legal advisers for example) in specified clients, and other client employees as required to complete the work and meet deadlines.
