Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Newark, Full time, Permanent
£32,000 to £36,000 (depending on shifts)

Our Client is currently looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to provide mechanical support for breakdowns, identify preventative maintenance tasks in order to ensure reliability and effectiveness of machinery and continuity in production.

Role and Responsibilities

As Mechanical Maintainer your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Responding promptly to mechanical breakdowns, diagnosing faults and identifying and carrying out appropriate repairs to minimise machine downtime
  • Installing mechanical components within in-house machinery for machines to function efficiently
  • Identifying modifications for existing machinery to create improvements in their efficiency and reliability
  • Creating drawings for effective fault diagnostics on new or modified machinery
  • Hands-on development and deployment of TPM activities and asset care routines and procedures
  • Carry out safety improvement tasks following findings from risk assessments and inspection reports
  • Compliance with H.A.S.W policy and statutory regulations
  • Assisting in the creation of documentation, systems and procedures for recording breakdowns, preventative maintenance and safety improvements


A successful Mechanical Engineer will possess the following skills and experience:

  • A BTEC, ONC or City and Guilds qualification in Mechanical Engineering or recognised relevant apprenticeship
  • 3 years’ experience in a similar role post qualification
  • Mechanical experience including hydraulics and pneumatics, machine tools (grinding/turning machines)
  • Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word and Powerpoint)
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and work unaided
