Our globally trading Client is seeking a Business Development Manager to run their European Sales operation. This is an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial individual, where you will be able to assist in the strategic growth of the company.

Role and Responsibilities

As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing a sales strategy with the view to develop increased business in the UK and Europe.

You will need to be capable of developing creative direct sales campaigns, researching, emailing and calling existing and potential clients, getting involved in technical discussions and be able to help the client understand the value of our client’s product.

Your overall responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Building and supporting sales teams across Europe, the UAE and China
  • Responding quickly and efficiently to all incoming sales enquiries
  • Follow up of all enquiries, preparing proposals where necessary and facilitating meetings with potential clients
  • Developing and executing a global sales strategy
  • Compilation of weekly overview information to all departments
  • Recording the progress of enquiries, translating into a monthly report
  • Researching and analysing the impact of new products and how they can benefit the business
  • Maintaining a good relationship with clients, distributors and sales agents working alongside the General Manager and Managing Director in executing the sales and operational strategies

This role will require travel, both within the UK and abroad for meetings with potential and existing clients and sales agents – therefore the ideal candidate will be flexible and able to travel at short notice.


A successful Business Development Manager will be required to possess the following:

  • A successful sales and business development career history
  • Previous experience of developing and managing a sales team
  • Ambition to work and thrive within an entrepreneurial environment
  • Results-oriented and driven with the desire to succeed
  • Proven networking skills
  • Strong communication skills, persuasive and polite
  • Hard working and be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Organised and self-disciplined with the ability to work diligently, whilst managing your own time
  • Able to build a strong relationship with both clients and sales agents located in other countries
  • Flexible and able to work and contribute within a small team
  • Strong communication skills; written, verbal and IT literate
  • Proficiency in a second language would be desirable
  • Full, clean driving licence
